As President, I wanted to ask for your help getting Redwood Theatre a present for the new year: new seating risers. The proscenium stage at the Senior Center requires us to place our audience on the flat gym-like floor, and we have used risers in the past to improve the audience sightlines. Unfortunately, the risers we built 18 years ago finally reached the end of their usable life, and we are hoping to replace them with professional built stock risers.
Risers matter. Stages typically have either raked or terraced seating for the simple reason that a human head makes a great obstruction. In a multipurpose auditorium like the Fred W. Meitzer Theatre in the Redmond Senior Center, risers spell the difference between seeing the whole show or just the parts of it to either side of the person in front of you. We want you to be able to see the whole show.
The goal: $4,000 by January 27. Thanks to a matching gift and a few generous donations, we have already raised $2,250 towards our goal. If we reach our goal, we’ll be able to purchase up to 12 sets of risers to enhance your Redwood Theatre experience. Contributions in any amount are welcome, and since Redwood Theatre is a 501(c)3 organization, it is fully deductible and eligible for matching funds from your employer.
All those who rise to the challenge will be recognized in our show programs and website. You can mail your contribution to Redwood Theatre, PO Box 108, Redmond, WA 98073 or click on the paypal icon and use your credit card.
Thank you in advance for your support,
Larry Goodhind
President, Redwood Theatre
