Redwood Theatre has been a part of the eastside community for 25 years now, and we have taken up residence in our current home at the Redmond Senior Center’s Fred W. Meitzer Theatre since 1989. We are committed to involving the community in as many aspects of theatre as possible, from stage to audience and everything in between.
Thanks to a generous grant from the City of Redmond, we can now hold most of our rehearsals within the City of Redmond, encouraging locals to get more involved, and in turn supporting Redmond’s Faith Lutheran Church, who lets us use their space for our rehearsals.
One of our objectives was to sign at least one performance of each production for the hearing impaired. Thanks to a grant from 4Culture, we were able to make that possible this season, starting with our fall production of Night Must Fall. We look forward to providing this service for all of our upcoming productions.
From the beginning, seniors that frequent the Redmond Senior Center, our home, have been our guests to our invitation-only preview performance. For the past two years, we have extended this invitation to welcome them as our guests any night they wish to attend, a program that has been well received by everyone.
The challenge we face now is to continue producing entertaining and challenging theatre, maintain our commitment to the community, and continue performing in the black, something we have done consistently from Redwood Theatre’s inception. Our prices will not go up, our discounts for seniors and children will remain, and we continue to look for opportunities to include other under-served segments of our community, especially during these tough economic times, when people need an outlet from the daily news.
We hope to see you all at our upcoming productions. Your attendance and support is what keeps Redwood Theatre going!
